DISCUSSION: bts lyric parallels (pt. 3: flowers)

It’s Festa season again, and this year, it’s BTS’s tenth anniversary!! I’ve been having so much fun these past couple weeks celebrating with everything they’ve prepared for us <3. To celebrate in my own way, I’ve planned the third post in the BTS lyric parallels series! For this one, I’m focusing on the motif of flowers in BTS’s discography, which alternately represent something beautiful, something good is always yet to come, happiness and growth, and despair and wilting.

This is the third one of the posts, so be sure to check the previous two out as well! Part one is the longest and examines the “extended hands” motif throughout their songs. Then, “dreams” is the focus of part two.

No additional graphics this year because I ran out of time…it’s also been ages since I wrote another “bts songs + books” post, but I haven’t been feeling very inspired by what I’ve been reading lately. There may or may not be one next month to celebrate ARMY day, depending on whether or not I can find enough song-book pairings, so be sure to watch out for that! You can also check out my “bangtan” tag to see all my other BTS-related posts.

DISCUSSION: bts lyric parallels (pt. 2: dreams)

Happy Festa, ARMYs! Have you been watching the “Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)” music video? And streaming Proof? To celebrate BTS’s ninth anniversary (wow), I finally sat down and wrote the second post in the BTS lyric parallels series! You can read the first part (focusing on the “extended hands” motif) here. For this post, I decided to focus on “dreams,” both meaning ambition and fantasy, within BTS’s discography.

As in the last post, I also made some graphics to go with some of the parallels, and I’m really proud of them! Be sure to check them all out throughout this post. I was on a bit of a time-crunch writing this post, so it’s not as long as I initially intended but I’m still really happy with how it all came out. Hope you enjoy it!

Earlier this year, I finally wrote the part two to the “BTS songs + books” book rec list if you’re more interested in my book-ish stuff. You can also view my “bangtan” tag to see all my other BTS-related posts.

EDIT (6/13/23): And now the third post in this series, this time centering on “flowers,” is up! Check it out here.

Happy Festa! Are you streaming “Butter”? To celebrate BTS’s eighth anniversary, I’m launching a new post series: BTS lyric parallels! Today, I’ll be examining songs with the “extended hands” motif, which falls under five different themes: distance, temptation, human contact, lifeline / anchor, and love / destiny.

This is my first post on my blog that’s not even remotely book-related, so sorry if that’s why you follow me. I originally was going to write this as a twitter thread but it got too long, and I wanted it somewhere where I could more easily format and keep for posterity. If you want more BTS and books content, I wrote two posts where I matched up a few of their songs with books: part 1 here and part 2 here.

EDIT (6/13/22): The second post in this series, focusing on “dreams,” is now up! Check it out here. You can also check out my BTS tag here.

DISCUSSION: favorite quotes (pt. 4): queen’s thief

The last book of the Queen’s Thief series, Return of the Thief, comes out in a couple of days, so I thought it would be nice to share my favorite quotes from this series! This is a bit different from the past posts in this series because it focuses on one book series rather than a theme.

These quotes may be out of order because I pulled a lot of them from Goodreads. I recently reread the series but frankly it was too much work to keep track of each quote, but I did try to order them as much as I could remember. Spoilers for these books, obviously.

So without further ado, here are my favorite quotes from the Queen’s Thief series!

DISCUSSION: favorite quotes (pt. 3): the softness / feral

banner

Today I have yet another post in my favorite quotes series! This is a long one and I’ll admit, the theme isn’t as cohesive as the other posts (desire/yearning/hunger/starvation and laughter and smiles) because these are genuinely just quotes that I lost it over when I read them.

Today’s theme is the softness / feral / both. By this I mean: quotes that are so soft, quotes that make me go feral, or quotes that are so soft that they made me go feral. Basically, I was the Jenny Slate scream meme over these.

DISCUSSION: favorite quotes (pt. 2): laughter and smiles

It’s the next installment of my favorite quotes series! This is a shorter one than the first one (desire/yearning/hunger/starvation) but still impactful.

Today’s theme is laughter and smiles. I mean, falling in love a little with someone when they smile and laugh…I’m crying a little.

DISCUSSION: favorite quotes (pt. 1): desire

Welcome to the first in my new discussion post series: my favorite quotes, split into different themes! In a way, this was probably inspired by all the parallel posts going around on Tumblr. However, instead, I’m using quotes from books that I’ve read and know the context of, so yes, there are more quotes/lyrics that I could have used!

Today’s theme is desire/yearning and/or described as a hunger/starvation, aka the best kind of quotes. [plays hunger.mp3 by Florence + the Machine]
